J. R. Hirst, writer

J. R. Hirst (James) writes short stories, novels and personal essays.

He has been published in NScribe, The Rag and Bone Man Press , Hive, Right Now, Barcelona Metropolitan and Medium and recorded stories for All the Best radio. He produced and presented a short story program, The Fiction Room, on Vision Australia Radio from 2011 to 2013. He was a member of West Writers Group in 2014 and 2015 and contributed four interviews to the anthology Recipes and Refuge. He was Highly Commended in the Brimbank Writers and Readers Festival in 2013 and 2014 and shortlisted in the inaugural Peter Carey Short Story Award in 2017 for his story The Anti Novelists.

He is currently completing his second novel.
